Telling the Boss at 14 weeks.

Hi all,

I finally told my boss and the rest of my co-workers that I am expecting. Everyone was really excited and happy for us. A couple of people said they already knew. All in all, it went well.

Also, I had a doctor's appointment last Tuesday. There was really nothing to it. The nurse listened to the baby's heartbeat. The baby has 140 bpm, which is right in the center of the normal range.

I also gained 8 pounds. I really don't understand the baby books that claim you are only supposed to gain 3 pounds your first trimester. If the only time I'm not nausea is when I'm eating then, give me a break!

By the way, thanks for all the calls, notes and comments. You guys really are the best!

12 Weeks and 5 Days!

Today, I had a First Trimester Ultra-Screen/Instant Risk Assessment (IRA). It is a two part test consisting of a ultrasound and a blood test, which together allows the earliest possible risk assessment for Down syndrome (Trisomy 21), Trisomy 18, and Trisomy 13.

Our little one passed the ultrasound examination with flying colors. We should get the blood test results in a week but the Doctor believed that this little one will be just fine.

So without further ado, I would like to introduce Baby Hailey to all of you. He/She is so cute.

During the exam, Baby Hailey waved its hands to us, moved around a lot and even put its hand behind its head.
It is really early to tell but the Doctor is very sure of the sex. We will not tell you all until our next ultrasound.

Ha! You will have to tune in to see if we are having a boy or girl.
